share: How to get rid of Pityriasis Rosea
I had this and it was awful and ugly. My Dr told me there was nothing I could do for it, but a Nurse I spoke to told me to go tanning 2 or 3 times over a couple days. I swear after the first time it stopped spreading! I went twice more and it was gone! No Dr is going to tell you to go tanning, but it worked! Be safe not to go in a strong tanning bed and put sunscreen on your face. I never post things, but this experience was terrible and I wanted to share the only thing that helped.

Hi Anon
Thanks so much for your SHARE.
I suffer from Keratosis Pilaris quite badly on my upper arms and the sun IS indeed a temporary cure (as it is with several skin conditions) but the problem is that the "cure" also causes cancer - skin cancer is the most common form of cancer - therefore tanning is not something we recommend and it's why your doctor didn't recommend it.
But the fact remains that it does help. It's up to each individual to weight the pros and cons and make their own decision. Obviously, from a health perspective, no-one will ever tell you to tan in order to get rid of a condition (especially when most people want it gone from aesthetic reasons) but living with a skin condition that causes the skin to look burned (in my case) or otherwise not "normal" is also difficult.
My advice for people is to mask the condition by using a self-tanner. That's what I do and it doesn't offer a "cure" but it does camouflage it quite well.
Thanks again for expressing your opinions and please feel free to post anytime!
