To Rejuvenate My Face I Need A...What?

If you’re dreaming about how you might look after plastic surgery to rejuvenate your face, you may be thinking about how much younger you’d appear after a facelift tightens wrinkles and saggy skin. Or how much brighter and more alert you would seem after eyelid surgery.

If you’re like most, you’re probably not thinking, “Gee, I could really benefit from a forehead lift.” It may very well be, however, that if droopy eyes frustrate you, or the aged appearance of your upper face is a general concern, a forehead lift may be in your future.

You see, the forces of aging and gravity act on the entire face, not just the lower half. It may be easier to identify the marks of the passing years on your lower face; after all, folds around the mouth and a jowly jaw line are difficult to ignore. But time takes a toll on the upper face too. Skin eventually sags downward and into the eyebrows and lids, giving you a weary, sad or even angry appearance.

Don’t believe your forehead’s the culprit? Next time you look in the mirror, position your fingers at the top of your forehead about at the outer edge of your eyebrows. Now, gently pull up. Do you look more awake? More alive? Younger? That’s what a forehead lift can do.

As a surgical procedure, a forehead lift, also known as a brow lift, is relatively simple. Most plastic surgeons make small incisions inside the hairline, remove excess skin, and pull remaining skin up and secure it into a more youthful position. Recovery is generally straightforward, with some swelling and bruising for a few days. The most common complaint is a big headache after surgery. Patients usually look ready to go out in public within several days and back to work within a couple of weeks.

Fortunately, the days of the strange, startled post-plastic surgery look are largely over. When you choose an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon, you don’t need to worry that you’ll end up with a weird looking hairline or an expression of permanent surprise. Many brow lift patients say that others notice they look good, but aren’t sure exactly what’s different.

Forehead lifts are often performed in conjunction with eyelid lifts. In fact, if you should consult a plastic surgeon about an eyelid lift, or blepharoplasty, you may be strongly advised to consider a combination procedure. After all, if your forehead has slid down into your eyes and you simply open your eyes back up with eyelid surgery, what will the result be? Right, maybe not so natural looking.

If you’re considering facial rejuvenation and a forehead lift is recommended to you, give it some thought. It may be just what you need to open your eyes to a new world.

Finding a doctor that knows how to do it right is key. You don't want that surprised look! This video explains it pretty well. Might be some supplemental education for readers of this post: http://youtu.be/qziQdbdacng
