being intimate without sex

By ThroughTheLookingGlass February 18, 2011 - 12:13pm

I have been dealing with pain during intercourse for about a year. I recently went to my gynecologist and he gave me a prescription cream to try, but my concern lies more with maintaining intimacy in my current relationship while we are unable to have sex. I have been with my boyfriend for almost a year and a half, and he has been very supportive, but because we can't have sex I feel like our intimacy in general has been hindered. I feel guilty for not being able to satisfy him, despite his insistence that he will wait as long as we have to. oral sex doesn't really satisfy me, and i know that if he is the only one receiving pleasure i will end up feeling used. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to be intimate and feel connected without sex?

get to know each other more, stay focused on learning things about ur boyfriend that you don't right now. Build up or increase your conversations, like past stories, future wishes. Stay busy with something outside the home like go bowling, play pool, meet up at a friends house and play cards. Spending lots of time with him and comunication can help u stay intimate without including the sex. If a relationship is just based on sex then its not a good relationship. A strong, firm relationship can with stand anything that comes in its way. Think of it this way, sex is just an add bonus to your relationship its shouldn't be the main focus.

-Hopes this helps...good luck!!!
