Meeting the parents

By February 16, 2012 - 1:07pm

Okay ladies, that time has come. I have tried to put it off but the inevitable is coming. Meeting my parents. The family grapevine is a buzz with my new serious fella. They do not know his age. But we have been "hogged tied" into a meeting. UGHHHHHHHHHH. Picture archie bunker and joan rivers and those are my parents. I'm freakin' out. My fella said relax, no problem..meanwhile I am wondering how to answer the uncomfortable question that will come up, " so you're copulating my daughter- couldn't find someone you're own age?" UGHHHHHHHHHHHH and furthermore UGHHHHHHHHHHHH. anybody gotta Valium I could use.

Hi Somoca, Welcome to EmpowHER. I can imagine how you must be feeling. But he eventually had to meet them soon or later. It might be good to talk to your parents before and explain how you feel. Also, try talking to your partner of what to expect. Just don't scare him off. Wish you the best! DaisyFebruary 18, 2012 - 6:18pm

I wanted to create a group for women like me that are dating/engaged/married to men that are younger than we are. I am 30 and my boyfriend is 25. I have heard so much ridicule and criticism over my choice to be with someone so much younger and less mature than I am. He makes me happy and I should be the one to decide who is or isn't right for me. If there are any of you out there that feel the same way, or want to talk to women with similar lives, this is the place for you! Welcome!
