Dr. Harness, M.D.:
Yes. There is research about hormone replacement therapy after being treated for breast cancer. The area is controversial. There are other ways of treating the hot flashes for those who are estrogen deprived. Most medical oncologists are familiar with the medications that are available, and the recommendation should come, in my view, from a medical oncologist.

The controversy about hormone replacement therapy after breast cancer treatment, I think is going to continue. There are camps of pros and there are camps of cons, and I am not sure what the right answer is, other than the controversy exists.
