Dr. Harness discusses what a woman can do if she is unhappy with her oncoplastic surgery results.

Dr. Harness, M.D.:
The answer is that with latissimus dorsi flaps from the back, with deep flaps from the abdomen, even the old TRAM flaps from the abdomen, if the size and the amount of tissue is not adequate, you can add a tissue expander initially to try and expand up to the proper size and then go back for a second surgery to put a permanent implant in.

So the option of using expanders and permanent implants with these kind of flap reconstructions is absolutely okay.
