What IS menopause?

Menopause officially begins a year after a woman's last menstrual period. It marks the end of fertility and is a natural process all women will go through.

As a woman approaches menopause, her ovaries produce less estrogen, which leads to the symptoms of menopause, including hot flashes and fatigue.

Hot flashes, weight gain, mood swings, and changes in sex drive affect many women as their hormone levels fluctuate. You may wonder whether your symptoms are actually related to changing hormone levels or if there are other factors at play. Maybe you really don't know what to expect during this time of life at all!
