Colleen explains if she continued working while undergoing chemotherapy treatments for ovarian cancer.
Colleen:
I didn’t work initially. When I was going through the sixth treatment, six months of intraperitoneal chemotherapy, it was really, really difficult for me to work. I couldn’t focus enough, I couldn’t concentrate enough, and I thought at this point in time, initially, I thought, "Gosh, it’s really going to be great and actually I can have time to read and I got stacks of books I want to get through," and I couldn’t even read those because I couldn’t concentrate. I couldn’t remember what I was reading from time to time. So that’s another side-effect of the chemo as well is the inability to really focus and concentrate and to read. So I did not work for those first six months. I was most fortunate, and just recently I’ve gone back to work, to working about maybe 20 hours a week, 30 hours, depending on how I am feeling and where I am at with my chemotherapy.
