Camille LoParrino
Recent graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and dually certified Health Coach through IIN and the State of NY at Purchase. My main focus is to prevent, control, and reverse obesity and diabetes, also known as “diabesity.”
I am concerned with the increased number of children and adults who are overweight, many of whom are earmarked for Type 2 diabetes, and I would like to change this situation. Having recently been diagnosed with diabetes myself, and given a diabetic drug to control my blood sugar levels, I was determined to control my condition and to do so drug free. After obtaining a nutritionist and working out daily, I was able to lose 25 pounds and then stop the diabetic medication within only four months. Now, one year later, I have kept off the 25 pounds and I have learned how to create some tasty meals. I really believe that in order to be successful in this area you have to make up your mind to carry out a constant lifestyle change. In particular, you need to be focused on the way you are eating, what you are eating, and how much you are eating. I sincerely feel that these three factors are doable and the decision to carry them out has to be made now in order to live a happier and healthier way of life.
I provide nutritional information to adults through a series of 6 workshops at a wellness center in the Bronx called W.S.P.T., 1250 Hutchinson River Parkway. I also “take the show on the road” to senior centers and other community centers specializing in discussions on nutrition and the control of Type 2 Diabetes. My plans are to include small groups of families, such as, mommie (or daddy) and me's and grandma or (grandpa) and me workshops so that I may reinforce the family unit to getting healthy all together.
