Dr. Nirenberg
Dr. Michael Nirenberg – America’s Podiatrist — is passionate about helping America’s 600 million feet. He has treated over 10,000 feet, been featured on the radio, magazines, newspapers and on TV (including the History Channel and Fox News).
He has assisted law enforcement in homicide investigations that involved foot-related evidence, lectured to physicians, spoken at events run by hospitals and the Arthritis Foundation, and lectured to salon and pedicure schools on foot and ankle problems.
The History Channel’s MonsterQuest flew Nirenberg to a remote area of Vancouver Island, British Columbia to examine footprints that may belong to the mysterious creature known as “Big Foot.”
Dr. Nirenberg has had a long career of dedicated public service. His paper “Forensic Methods and the Podiatric Physician,” published in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, earned him the prestigious Distinguished Podiatric Writing Award while he was still a medical student.
He has since published articles in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Journal of Foot Surgery, Northwest Indiana’s Parent Magazine, Get Healthy Magazine, the Fixing Your Feet E-zine and the Journal of Forensic Identification. He has been interviewed for various magazines including First Magazine, Get Healthy, and Vim & Vigor.
Dr. Nirenberg’s approach to helping patients is to treat each of them as a member of his own family. “I take a very thorough approach to each patient’s foot or ankle problem,” Dr. Nirenberg says.
In fact, in one case, he was so thorough he discovered a young man’s foot pain was due to a tumor in his neck! (The case was published in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association and was featured on the front page of the area’s largest paper — Click Here).
Dr. Nirenberg studied podiatric medicine in Chicago and then went on to complete a residency in foot and ankle surgery.
He is Board Certified in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, and holds a Bachelors of Science and a Bachelors of Arts degree, and for 15 years served as a Podiatric Residency Instructor, teaching new podiatrists the art and science of treating patients.
In 2008, he served on the APMA’s Podiatric Seals Committee, helping to determine which foot and ankle products would earn the coveted podiatric seal of approval.
Dr. Nirenberg practices just outside of Chicago in Crown Point, Indiana where he lives with his wife and two boys.
