Michelle:

When you have scratches on your cornea the most obvious symptom is light sensitivity. When you are outside in the sunlight you just want to close your eyes. You can’t wait to get into a dark room, and then if you are wearing contacts you can barely stand the pain. You have to take them out. It’s a sharp pain I would say I guess is the best way to describe it. I also have described it as being almost like a suction cup that’s being on your cornea.

I was diagnosed when I was 20 and I went because I was having trouble when I was reading. I would be very fatigued when I would read. I was also looking over the top part of my eyes in order to see a blackboard and that’s how I knew there was a problem. So, knowing that I had a vision problem I thought I am going to go to an eye doctor thinking I just need the glasses and then I discovered I had more of a problem.
