Annette, who still faces ovarian cancer, shares if her breast cancer lumpectomy was painful.
Annette:
The lumpectomy was painful, as any surgery would be. A cavity is created inside of the breast, particularly, not only to take clear margins, but then to create an opening for the radiation device that was going to be implanted, and I’ve been out of treatment for about three months now. I have occasional little pain that will just remind me that I’ve had this experience. I have to be careful when I am in crowds, that people don’t bump into the breast because it can be painful, but that’s diminished very quickly over time.
I don’t have any lingering side effects and I am currently on an estrogen blocker because that is what is necessary for me, for my particular kind of breast cancer.
