Antibiotics and Birthcontrol

I took a course of antibiotics for a bladder infection for about 8 days, and it said they’re supposed to make my birth control less effective. I stopped taking them about a week ago, so when should they start being effective again?

Guide

Hello. Thank you for writing today.

You can double check with your doctor or pharmacist on this, but the typical rule of thumb is to use a backup method of birth control for the time you are on the antibiotics + 7 days after. Best to err on the side of caution.
