Hi,

My husband and I have decided to start trying to conceive. My doctor said it's best to finish out my pack. However, I have three days left (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) in the whole pack and we have left for the weekend. My pills are at home. I don't want to mess anything up in getting pregnant. How will this effect my period/next ovulation cycle?

Thanks,

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

There is no need to finish your pack, I assume your doctor said it to track your impending conception better, but a scan can work that out for you. Prenatal care usually occurs after 3-4 months of pregnancy anyway, unless you are over 35. You will likely bleed a little early this month and then get back on track in the next couple of months. Don't expect to get pregnant as soon as you come off the Pill (although you might be lucky!) - most couples have success within 6 months. Start taking prenatal vitamins now.
Good luck!
Best,
Susan
