Can I be sure about postinor 2?

Hi. I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend on day 10 of my cycle and just 6 hours later I took postinor 2. He did not ejaculate inside me the first time but the second time he ejaculated a little bit on his way out. Can I trust postinor 2 to work? I have taken it twice before and it worked. Since I was not yet ovulating what are my chances of pregnancy? Please help me. Should I be stressed?

Guide

Hello Soni Kariuki,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to our community with your question.

Postinor 2 is effective in preventing pregnancy by preventing ovulation. if taken mid-menstrual cycle and within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. It is most effective if taken as soon as possible.

Soni, the pill should work because you took it before ovulation and within six hours. Once you have vaginal bleeding, you will know for certain.

I must caution you that an emergency contraceptive, like Postinor 2 is not intended to be use frequently and is not a form of birth control, rather for an emergency situation.

Regards,
Maryann
