Q:

Can sperm live on hands after washing?

I had sex with a condom. I checked my husbands condom after he ejaculated to make sure there weren't any holes by running water in it and checking for any leaks. I threw it away and washed my hands but I then used the bathroom to pee s couple minutes later. Could any of the sperm gotten in my vagina when I peed? If there were sperm still on my hands, could it get on the toilet paper and onto my vagina??

Dear y Djwerw24,

Thank you for your question.

No. You washed your hands, which washed away any ejaculate. There is no risk.

Thank you for your quick response, Helena! Sorry to be paranoid, but we are just getting over a pregnancy scare, and I was trying to be extra cautious by checking and now had this worry. If by chance the hand washing didn't take care of it, is it possible for sperm to get inside by my hands touching the toilet paper and then wiping? I wiped a little more than normal as I was also wiping away any post sex wetness. Thank you for you help!

Hi,

Try not to over think this. You washed your hands. The scenario you mention is highly unlikely. I've never heard of a woman getting pregnant from possible traces of semen on toilet paper.

Thanks so much! Over thinking is all I do, but I will take your advice. Thanks again :)
