Can you get pregnant from missing pills after unprotected sex?

I am a first day starter and missed the first pill of my pack (started a day late) I take Yaz. according to the pill pack, it says missing only one in the first week requires no back up protection. At the end of that first week (The day after the last day of withdrawal bleeding) I had unprotected sex, though my partner withdrew. On Tuesday and Wednesday (the sex was on sunday) I missed my pills, and doubled up on Thursday and Friday. What are the chances of pregancy?

Hi I have been on ortho tri cyclen for 3 years and never missed a pill until last night. I was supposed to take it at 9pm but realized I forgot and just took it today at 12pm. I had unprotected sex two nights ago with him ejaculating in me. I am on the first week of a new pack. Should I be worried? I will not miss my pill tonight. But Should I be looking into getting plan b?

Hello Anonymous,

I would not advise you to take Plan B until you first speak with your gynecologist.

Did you make up for the missed dose by taking two pills on June 22?

My concern about taking Plan B is except for the missed dose, you have been taking your pills. Intercourse happened before the missed dose, so you may have actually been protected.

Maryann

I am kind of freaking right now! I've been taking birth control pills for over a year now and I decided to stop, not because I wanted to get pregnant, just because I wanted to stop. I missed the two last white pills I was supposed to take and had unprotected sex. Could I be pregnant ?

Hi Anonymous,

There is a possibility you could have gotten pregnant. Wait and test if your period is late by at least one week.

Hello,
I've missed my pill on Saturday morning (it's day 5 in the new pack) and took two the next morning (24-25 hours later), as soon as I've realized it. However I've had an uprotected intercourse the night before I missed my pill - on Friday. He pulled out , but not immediatelly. How high is the risk of getting pregnant in this case? (I've been using Yasminelle combination pills for over 7 years now). Thank you in advance!

Hi Anonymous,

I don't think the risk was high because you missed only one day, Saturday. To be sure, contact your gynecologist.

Hi. My pill is Althea. I take the pill everyday at 9pm. After the 7-day rest period, i was supposed to take the pill on tuesday at 9pm. I wasn't able to take the pill for that day and for wednesday. I only remembered to take the pill on Thursday at around 1am (that is for wed) then i took another pill at 9pm as usual. I had unprotected sex on Friday (but didn't cm). What are the chances of pregnancy? And what should i do with the one pill i missed to take?

Hi Althea,

Just discard the one pill you didn't take. When you miss a pill, you take the missed pill and the daily pill as soon as your realize, which you did for the second missed dose.

Two consecutive missed doses, with only one made up for, posses a small risk. But, without ejaculation, I don't think you were at risk. You could always check with your gynecologist.

Maryann
