Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for coming to us with your question.

Levonorgestrel is the main ingredient in an emergency contraceptive. It primarily prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation.

You took the pill during your fertile period, when ovulation may have already occurred.

It is possible that the spotting on May 23 was implantation bleeding caused by the fertilized egg implanting in the lining of your uterus.

Levonorgestrel also causes changes in the cervical mucus to make it harder for sperm to reach the released egg.

Anonymous, since it has been three weeks since you took the pill, and only spotted for one day,
take a home pregnancy test. For the most accurate result, test in the morning. Use the urine when you first wake up.

Keep in touch,
Maryann
