Hello! I have a question regarding possibly being pregnant. I have been on the pill for over 2 years. I take the pill and am not always great about taking it. I finished my period on the 23rd of november and began my first pill on the 24th. However on the 25th and 26th I had the stomach flu and did not take my pill as I was throwing up. I then took two pills on the 27th and 28th to make up on that dosage. On december 4th I had unprotected sex and my partner is unsure if he may have came in me a little bit before he pulled out. I have been taking my pill regularly since.

Dear Anon,

Thanks for reaching out to EmpowHer.

Yes, it is advised that if you forget to take your pills for 2 days, take 2 pills the day you remember and 2 pills the next day. You will then be back on schedule. It is wise to use a backup method of birth control (or abstain) for at least 7 days - until 7 pills in a row are taken. Just to be on the safe side. I'd say your risk is low, however, if your period does not come, take a home pregnancy test.

Best,
Helena
