I took plan b after unprotected sex with my husband 2 1/2 weeks ago, exaclty on my most fertile day (didnt realize that until later). Had possibly breakthrough bleeding one week after that, one week before my expected period. Now I'm 5 days late of my scheduled period and have been having minor cramping (which i rarely if ever get regularly) and slight nausea. Whenever I did have any cramping before AF it only lasted one day tops! Any imput as to what could be causeing the cramping?

Hi Anonymous,

I think this may be the result of taking Plan B, but please check with your doctor.

Hi Maryann,
I wrote to you a couple days before as a anonymous on here and I'm back again with some questions. I'm seein a doctor tomorrow to confirm a pregnancy test even though you said there's no need for one. please clarify if I'm wrong, I had sex maybe for 30-60 seconds and he kept pulling out to make sure he didn't ejaculate. I annoyed him about it for days and he told me to stop worrying and that we both would've known if he did. my point let's say he did the slightest I got my period THE DAY AFTER isn't very unlikely to get pregnant at this time? I'm irregular as well so idk how that would work, but I heard it's very unlikely way to get pregnant, I also took plan b like I said before about 3-4 days later still on my period. my period was normal 7 days but then I started bleeding again about 3-4 days after taking the plan b and I spotted heavily for maybe 5 days and it eventually turned brown. I'm not experincing any discharge. but I'm still worried I might be pregnant due to my own paranoia and stress. I want to say all this is pms due to the pill the back pain/neck pain, loss of appetite, nausea and constipation. it's been a week and one day since I took the pill. if you can please help and tell me what's going on and what are my odds of getting pregnant, I want to say I'm feeling a "false pregnancy" due to my paranoia but idk

I'm worried, last week my boyfriend took my virginity, he was only in me for maybe 30-60 seconds and he kept pulling out to reassure me he didn't ejaculate. that was last Tuesday the next day I got my period, which is strange because I'm extremly irregular so maybe I thought it was the truama of intercourse or whatever still confused. I usually get constipated on my period so that happened. I was paraniod about pre cum so the I bought plan b Saturday kinda breaks the rules of the 72 hour mark but I took it before work and experienced no side affects the heavier bleeding from my period stopped around Monday but I'm still spotting? I'm experincing back pain, nausea, abdominal pain. I'm worried I might be pregnant and I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative I'm planning to take another one some time at the end of this week. my breadt are not tender and I'm not vomiting or feeling all that fatigued hopefully someone can help me!

Hello Anonymous,

Taking Plan B so late only caused an upset in the balance of hormones that naturally regulate your menstrual cycle. The high dose of the hormone in the pill could be responsible for your period starting when it did and the increase in flow.

I do not see a reason for testing again. You did not become pregnant.

Anonymous, do you see a gynecologist? If not, now is a good time to schedule that first appointment. It would be an opportunity for a physical exam and to discuss birth control options.

I used to take birth control months ago to regulate my period, it made me gain weight and my doctor told me that the birth control is harmful and that its normal to have a irregular period till your 20s (I'm 19) like I said before my period is irregular. we had unprotected intercourse and the next day my period came I didn't experience any heavy cramping but blood clots and blood was normal. i suffer from paranoia so it doesn't help in the situation and I'm under a lot of stress which can affect the body in all sorts of way. I am clean and so is my partner I don't have many friends to talk to about this and no body at all besides my partner who is a male and wouldn't understand I really need the reassurance as long as I'm not pregnant I'm okay knowing that this is just side affects from the pill, the bleeding I'm experincing now is not heavy it's darker and only when I go to the bathroom do I notice it. if you can tell me how I can help the pressure and nausea would be awesome. I'm only a worried girl trying to figure how to help this. I can't sleep all that well and I lost weight from this situation, I haven't puked but constipation and occasional diarrhea takes place

Hi Anonymous,

I am sorry to hear how troubled you are about all of this. But, if it is any comfort, you are not pregnant. As far as the nausea, try to eat light, maybe tea and broth until you feel better. Try as hard as you can to relax, listen to music or go for a pleasant walk. Try to stop fretting about this. Then the symptoms may go away.

Maryann

Me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex two days ago...I think I was ovulating. He didn't come inside me but I'm worried about pre cm..I took plan b about 12.5 hours later (the next morning) and since then I've been having abdominal and back pain on and off and my back has been hurting a lot. What are my chances of being pregnant?

Hello Anonymous,

Pre ejaculate fluid itself does not contain sperm. Without ejaculation into your vagina, there was no risk for pregnancy.

Plan B prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. Lower abdominal pain is one reported side effect of the pill.

I think you have little to no chance of being pregnant. I cannot give you a 100% guarantee, but there was no ejaculation and you took Plan B.

Maryann
