Hi Anon - I'm sorry to hear that your hair is falling out. Hair loss is one of the side effects of using Minera, and several women who experienced this reported that their hair grew back in after they stopped using Minera. Pat

Have just had Mirena removed after much soul searching. Had it for almost 5 years and periods all but stopped over time-(actually miss the reassurance of a period telling me I as not pregnant). Breasts have become lumpy and often very tender but now I forget what is "normal" and a worried about an area of tissue that is especially nodular and lumpy (hard). My doctor removed Mirena but could not comment on it being related to breast lumps and could not examine breasts as we have to go to specialist via GO referral these days just to get a clinical exam. Now I have to wait for an appointment and stress about this lump. Glad mirena is gone though. Sticking to condoms from now on and will be VERY good about using them as do not want more kids. While on Mirena had ovarian cysts that caused aches lower abdomen- hope my period comes back as I don't feel normal any more (42 yrs old)

I had a breast lump when I had mirena, they done a needle biopsy with ultrasound and took it all out with needle,it was liquid,I hav'nt had it back since, you may have the same sort of thing.
Hopefully yours will be ok like mine. Im 49 and get cysts as well and never used to before I had mirena.
All the best with it.

Your period often stops totally after 6 months, thats what happened to me and some friends of mine.
It often takes years to get any side effects for some people.

Hello I just go the IUD today, because I have Fibr tumors and one is covering my usterus and we trying to reduce the bleeding and cramps. I have tried all different types of BC and they only worked for little while. The best one was the patch, but I am nervous about the side effects from it, and was stop due to health risks. I am nervous about this IUD, but it is only for a tried period to see how it works. The next step is surgery. Do they assist in controling bleeding and I was told that the miranda could come out from blood clots?

I am 44 years old and I had the IUD put in just before Thanksgiving. Had no pain the day it was placed, but have been in pain every day since. I went to the doctor and had an ultrasound about a week after and he said the pain was not from the IUD at all, but from a cyst on my left ovary. He gave me some pain meds. and told me to come back in a week. I just went to see him today and he asked how i am feeling. I told him the pain is always there on my left side and it is not getting any better. He said I hate to take it out cuz it has been less than a month. I said I thought the pain was being caused by the cyst? He said no, it is definitely from the IUD, we can take it out today or you can give it more time to see if your body adjust. Some women never get comfortable, or adjust. I told him I would give it another week and then I started searching online for other women's complaints. After reading all these horror stories, I think I will call him tomorrow and schedule getting this thing out of me. I had it placed to control some bleeding issues, not for birth control. I know I would rather have irregular bleeding than all this undue pain.
