Q:

Does anyone else sneeze after eating mints?

With near predictability I sneeze following the intake of mint whether it's gum, a breath mint, Listerine breath strips, or something else. I've now come to refer to these items as Sneezey Treats. Following the two sneezes, there are no other symptoms. I don't break out in hives, no watery eyes, nothing.

Anyone else got this going on? I obviously don't need to rush to the emergency room and the solution is even more obvious -- stop consuming this stuff, right -- but am looking for fellow MSPs -- or mint sensitive people. Any out there?

I am so glad I found this site! I just popped a mint in my mouth, as I do about 10 times a day, and I sneezed. This happens like clockwork every single time I eat a mint. I have come to the conclusion that the minty-menthol like fumes somehow get into my nasal passages while having the mint in my mouth, and activates the sneezing reaction. Although, this is just speculation. I don't think I am allergic to them because I have not experienced any other allergy type symptoms. I am surprised that this is such a common occurrence with so many others!

I just popped a mint into my mouth and on command, I sneezed, as I always do. Since this particular time I was sitting at my computer, I decided to look it up. Glad to see so many others have my same condition. I sometimes have it with dark chocolate and red wine as well. Funny.

I sneeze all the time when I eat mints, especially strong ones such as Altoids. My husband thinks I'm nuts because I can't even catch my breath as one sneeze comes after another in quick succession.
