Welcome to EmpowHER.

All emergency contraceptives, including Postinor 2, do not prolong the menstrual cycle. An ECP prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. This lasts for one menstrual cycle.

One side effect is changes in the menstrual cycle. Your next monthly period could start earlier or later than expected.
