I had sex a few days ago for the first time and my vagina is unusually sore and dry, what is the cause of this and how long should this last?

I had sex for my first time about four days ago, and ever since then my vagina has been unusually tight, swollen, occasionally itchy and very dry. I have not had any more experiences in sex, and it has been like this for days but I have not done anything in which would make it worse. I read that after sex your vagina will most likely be like this for about a week but I am not sure.
