I just answered another women's question who missed 14 days of pills all-together, so she is in exactly the same situation as you are. You can read more about the answer here: I have missed pills ( 14 days) am i pregnant

Honey, you can get pregnant even while ON the pill, let alone missing days. The FDA had to lower the chemicals that prevent ovulation in the pills many years ago because of the severe health risks of the previous pills. The birth control pills women now take are far less effective and many, many women end up pregnant even while perfectly consistent on the pill and aren't even aware of it. An award winning study in Europe found a pretty high percentage of women who consistently and faithfully take their birth control pills end up pregnant and having a chemical abortion. Some conceived children are able to implant and survive, but many find themselves unable to implant on the inhospitable uterus and are flushed out later as spotting or in the period itself.

The third function of ALL birth control pills is to cause a chemically induced abortion- to prevent the child from implanting on the uterus.

I actually did extensive research on it myself before deciding not to go on the Pill. One website that will summarize it wonderfully is this site- http://www.epm.org/resources/2010/Feb/16/longer-condensation-does-birth-control-pill-cause-/

Yes, it is hosted by a pro-life Christian, but if you take just 10 minutes to read it you will see that the man's words ring true scientifically. I actually purchased the book to verify the so called studies and information and indeed, he's right. The FDA and the PDR, I believe it's called, even state the third function of birth control pills is to prevent the conceived child from implanting. This acknowledges, as well as countless studies, that even if you're perfectly faithful on the pills, you could very well end up pregnant.

One study said that the faithful pill taker will have a chemically induced abortion once every five years. Other studies said more or less. The point is, dear, that skipping the pill bodes even worse. And even if you're faithful, you can never be sure how many times you end up pregnant or how many children you will lose.

Yes I have missed one pill in my second week sometime. On that day I had sex. I took the pill early the next morning, only a few hours after sex. I am supposed to start my period tomorrow, so I took a home pregnancy test today. It came back negative. Was it too early to take a test and also do you think I am ok. I read my BC packet and it said I was coveted if I miss one pill. I just want a professionals advice. I am freaking out. I do not want a child. I haven't felt any different since the encounter and have not had sex since!

Hi Anonymous,
Thanks for your question. You should be fine. I'm not a doctor, or nurse, but I can definitely advocate for you on this one. You can trust the information insert that came with your pills. If you miss one pill and make it up, you're probably OK. Generally speaking, if you take a pregnancy test the day you're supposed to get your period, it may be a little too soon. The results still can be accurate, but it will be even more accurate a week after a missed period. The test is detecting pregnancy hormone. When you initially miss your period, it may not be increased enough (if you were pregnant) in your system to give a good reading on the test. Hope that makes sense. If you ever forget to take your pill, it's not a bad idea to use a backup method or abstain until you can get back on track with your pills. Here is an article about missing birth control pills that may explain it even further for you:

Thanks for your advice. I actually start my period today. It isn't as heavy as normal, could that be from stressing over this for two eels? Or do u think its implamentation bleeding? It was such a relief to get it this morning until I found out about implamentation bleeding!

Hi Anonymous,
Implantation bleeding doesn't always occur in pregnancy, it typically is equivalent to spotting. More blood than that could be your period. If your bleeding lasts more than a few hours or a day, I think you could be confident it's your period. Implantation bleeding generally occurs 10-14 days after unprotected sex.
Hope the additional information helps.

Hi. I ended up bleeding for about 2 1/2 days, however it was very light but was more than spotting. I also had a brown color for an additional day. What do you think. Should I have any worries?

So I've been on the pill for about 5 months now. I switched to a different brand of pills on the 4th month so I expected cramping and all that that month. But on the 1st week of my 5th month, I missed two pills and I've been accidentally taking the pills a couple weeks before that late aswell because I was so preoccupied and for some reason kept ignoring my alarm. So anyways i took the pills as soon as I remembered so I took 3 pills in a day but I never doubled or anything and then I had unprotected sex. I've had really tender breasts lately, sometimes get a lil dizzy, always tired, etc... Idk if it's just the pill? But I've never experienced this before i usually only get premenstrual symptoms a week before my period but I've been feeling it since a week or two after I missed those pills. Does that mean i could be pregnant?
