Ok, I started my BC pack late this month...... When i started the pack, for the first few days I took 2 pills on one and 2 more the following day to make up for lost time. The following days after I take those 4 pills, I didn't take the upcoming days due to that I forgot my pack at home and I was with my boyfriend. My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex from and he had ejaculated in me, more than 5x...... I have yet to continue my BC and it has been 3 days since I have had sex. Today I am spotting.... Is there a possible chance that I may be pregnant? Or is the spotting occurring due that I have missed more than 3 pills and I started my pack late?? Someone PLEASE help me. I would like to hear what you would have to say. Thank You.

Hi Leana,
October 28, 2010 - 1:09pmThanks for your question. The spotting could be from inconsistently taking the pill. Three days is too early to know if you have gotten pregnant. You may want to contact your prescribing doctor to explain this to them and see what they think you should do. Anytime you forget your pills, and don't use a backup method like a condom, spermicide, or even the withdrawal method (only about 70% effective, but it's better than nothing), you put yourself at unnecessary risk for getting pregnant. You need to get back on track with your pills, or ask your health care provider if a different method would be better for you to take since it's only most effective if you take it on time and regularly.

Hi,
October 27, 2010 - 1:10pmI had unprotected sex my 3rd week on birth control and missed a pill after, is there a chance of pregnancy? I am supposed to be on my period now but I haven't started and I am getting a bit worried. I have been on Kariva for almost 4 years.

Are you trying to prohibit pregnancy? The best way is to consistently take your birth control. If you are having difficulty remembering, perhaps a different form of birth control, or regularly using a back-up method would help alleviate concern.
October 25, 2010 - 12:43pmAs I'm sure you are well aware, pregnancy symptoms often are similar to pre-menstrual symptoms. If you miss your period, you can take a home pregnancy test to verify a possible pregnancy, or irregular period. If you truly are concerned, call the doctor that prescribed your birth control to ask them what they think or if you should be seen by the doctor.
Good luck and let us know how you are doing.
