Q:

Pregnancy worries WITHOUT intercourse?

I can't believe I'm asking this but I'm starting to freak out a little bit.
A few days after my period ended, my boyfriend and I were "messing around." He put his bare penis up to my bare vagina and started rubbing before I told him to stop and put on a condom. (I'm not on any other form of birth control right now.) No ejaculation and no penetration, just possible precm on my vagina.
I didn't think anything of it at the time, but now my period is a few days late - I've had some weird light brown spotting with period-esque cramps, but no period. My breasts are tender and look a little bigger to me, and my skin has absolutely exploded with acne (although that is not unusual for me). I'm kind of freaking out.

I am absolutely exhausted, but to be fair, I have been sleeping an average of four hours a night and have a whole lot of stress in my life right now. We haven't even had sex yet because I am undergoing treatment for vaginsmus - penetration and intercourse is too painful for me, something I'm working on with physical therapy.

I took a sensitive early test the day my period should have come, and it was negative, but still no period. A pregnancy would be absolutely devastating, especially without intercourse - I'm not even sure my boyfriend would believe me. :(

I should mention that I recently stopped taking the Pill because it was making me super depressed and physically ill. I was told to expect some cycle weirdness after stopping, but I'd gone through two full cycles and my period seemed perfectly normal.
Am I making myself nuts or is there a real risk here?

Thanks very much for your help.

Hello Gaph,

The viruses that cause a sexually transmitted disease are in bodily fluids, such as blood, vaginal fluid and semen.

They can also be spread through contact with infected skin or mucous membranes, such as sores in the mouth.

You may be exposed to infected body fluids and skin through vaginal, anal or oral sex. Anal sex is very risky because it usually causes bleeding. Sharing needles or syringes for drug use, ear piercing, tattooing, etc. can also expose you to infected fluids.

Most STIs are only spread through direct sexual contact with an infected person.

Maryann

Dear Maryann and Susan,

Thanks for your enlightenment. You guys are really helping noobies like me to learn more about sex education.

I'll like to inquire about the phenomena of safe period, fertile period and ovulation.

For how many days in a month (on average) will a lady be considered fertile?

Will intercourse during the safe period reduce any risks of pregnancy?

How can one predict a safe period?

Sorry for the slight deviation from the forum topic.

Warm regards
Gaph

Hello Gaph,

Thank you for your kind words

According to Parenting magazine, " in general, a woman's fertile window is the day of ovulation, (usually 12 to 16 days before the menstrual period begins) and the five days preceding it. For the average woman that occurs somewhere between days 10 and 17.

But, no woman is average and predicting ovulation can be tricky.

If you do not want to become pregnant, you must use protection.

"One way to determine your individual fertile period is to keep a record of your menstrual cycle (for eight or more months, if possible). Select your shortest cycle (say 27 days) and subtract 18 from it. The resulting number—nine—is your first potentially fertile day. Subtract 11 from your longest cycle (say 30 days) and you get 19. This marks your last potentially fertile day. So if the cycles you measured over several months were between 27 and 30 days long, you would be most fertile somewhere between days 9 and 19."

Maryann

Hi

Please, I and my girlfriend simulated sex by rubbing my penis against her vagina with no penetration and with no clothes on. In fact, her hymen is still intact. I'm so sure I never ejaculated on her but not sure about precum. There's a possibility I released precum on her without me knowing.

She had missed her period for over three weeks now and I'm so scared. From the scenario I described above, is there any chance of her being pregnant?

Hello Anonymous,

Unless your girlfriend has very irregular menstrual cycles, three weeks since her last period is a long time.

She needs to take a home pregnancy test, just to rule out the possibility.

The vagina is inside of the body. Without penetration and ejaculation, there should not have been a risk for pregnancy.

Pre ejaculate fluid itself does not contain sperm.

If you had a recent ejaculation, sperm could have been in your urethra. That is the tube through which semen and urine pass. Once you urinated, all sperm was flushed out.

Maryann

Hello Anonymous,

Were you still having your period when this happened? Did your last period start or end on March 18?

Yellowish discharge is not a sign of pregnancy. If you have a 28 to 30 day menstrual cycle and your period ended on March 18, it is too early to be ovulating.

Maryann

Hi me and my boyfriend were fooling. Around but I never let him put his penis in or near my vagina because of paranoia. My period is a week late but he never penetrated or have had sexual intercourse with me. Any advice ?
