can STD be transmitted from one person to another in public toilets, for example, if a person who used the public toilet has HIV or other forms of STD, would the next person who use the toilet catch it for example, if she sat on the wee of the person with the infection? can you please answer my question, i just need the right answer for the booklet that i am doing for my sex education subject in school, because different websites tells me different things.

Thank you.

Hi roses,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  HIV is spread through sexual contact with an infected person, sharing of needles or syringes, a baby born from an infected mother or breastfeeding.

Hello Anonymous,

Sexual contact, be it anal, oral or genital to genital, is the only way a sexually transmitted disease, each and every one, is passed on.
