Q:

Why is my period late?

The first day of my last period was 11th August. I had sex on the 6th and 11th of September. I took a blood test on the 19th September which gave me a level of 1.2 hcg. (Also the thyroid test came normal too.) I took another hpt on the 29th which also came back negative. I haven't had my periods till today (11th October). Is there any chance that I could be pregnant? What other things could cause such a late period?

Hi Tanvi,

Thank you for reaching out to the EmpowHER community with your circumstance about your period. Did you say that your period did come today OR still hasn't come??

A level 1.2 hog definitely means no pregnancy. And your hpt coming back negative, really makes me think that you are not pregnant.

So, Tanvi it is normal to miss a period occasionally. A missed period should be discussed with your doctor. It can be perfectly normal, but worst case scenario is the possibility of what is called  is called amenorrhea-a missed period, or an absence of a menstrual period.

I am sure you are just fine, just make a doctors appointment pretty soon.  Better safe than sorry.

Did this help?

Best,

Kristin
