Q:

Would a test be positive by now?

I'm currently on CD 38. My last few cycles ranged from 28-36 days. My boobs have been sore for almost a week now. My fiancé and I always have protected sex with a condom. All of my pregnancy tests have been negative. Would a test show positive by now? Or should I expect a positive test or a period? I have an appointment to talk to my doctor about going back on birth control or having my tubes tied. We're just really not prepared for a positive test considering we do not want children. Super worried right now, because we know that the only way to prevent pregnancy is abstinence. I had exhausted every other BC option, I've been on the pill, IUD, and Nexplanon all with negative side effects. Someone calm my nerves lol.

Dear bm23,

Thanks for reaching out to EmpowHER.

It's unlikely you are pregnant. You are having protected sex, and have had no positive pregnancy test results. When you see your doctor, he or she will probably do a pregnancy as well. Keep us posted.

Best,
Helena
