My daughter , she is 31, was on Yassmin pills for 8 years, she stopped them 5 months ago. Recently she is suffering of depression, loss of appetite, crying fits and asking for a divorce without any reason. She will be going to a psychiatrist, but could the reason for change of moods be due to stopping the pills and changes of hormones? Please I need your advice as soon as possible.
Thanks

Hello and welcome to EmpowHer
March 6, 2016 - 1:31pmFirst of all, I want to say how sorry I am to hear of your situation.
Mood swings can definitely be a side effect of going off birth control pills. Since your wife took the pills for so many years her body could be struggling to recover from the lack of supplemental hormones. I highly suggest she see a doctor to analyze her hormonal health, if she is willing.
Below I have pasted a link to a HER article the talk more about the side effects of coming off the pill.
