Long story! I started my period Jan 16th had unprotected sex and took plan b the 19th and started nuvaring the 20th. My period tapered off that day and then I started having brown spotting/discharge, this is still happening as of today, yesterday I had a few red spots along with the brown. I took a pregnancy test Thursday and it was negative. I am supposed to take the ring out on Wednesday today I am having menstrual like cramps. My normal period is scheduled for the 13th. My main question is did I test to early? Since I've been spotting so long can I be pregnant?

Hello and welcome to EmpowHer,
February 7, 2016 - 10:00pmEmergency contraception causes bleeding a few days later. Because you started taking nuvaring the next day the hormones from both drugs cause more aggressive hormonal changes. Your period is disrupted because of that. The other symptoms you are having are also due to the hormonal imbalances from taking both drugs. The symptoms do not indicate pregnancy.
Be aware that your normal period is most likely be disrupted as well.
In the future do not use more than one type of hormonal birth control at a time. Its my understanding that you also have the ring at the same time you are taking nuvaring. Is that correct? The ring also contains hormones.
So your body has a lot to deal with right now. Your hormones will not return to a balanced state until you stick to one birth control for a while.
Below I pasted a HER article that explains more about birth control.

I hope that helps.
