Julie, who entered surgical menopause after her hysterectomy for ovarian cancer, shares if she has found an alternative to hormone replacement therapy/HRT.
Julie:
Some doctors recommend soy products, and there’s all kinds of all-natural soy for menopause. My particular breast cancer doctor warned against going overboard. Soy as in, edamame, occasionally if you’re having sushi is okay, but he kind of steered me clear of any excessive amounts or taking anything that’s not FDA approved. He was a little wary over adding more estrogen that could make the breast cancer come back or flare up, or they just don’t, there’s not really a good. I don’t think, personally I haven’t found a good replacement for what a woman who doesn’t have that situation or breast cancer, ovarian cancer history, can take in place of HRT.
