Julie shares her advice for women who are recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Julie:
I would say the hardest part is to take a step back, to take a deep breath, and having a support system is the most important thing. I was kind of alone. My family is split apart in different places, and so talk to people, get as much knowledge as you can, and they say, "Stay away from the Internet," but if you can go into your next checkup, your next doctor, get a second opinion. I didn’t get a second opinion with my breast cancer, and I had some complications there, and that’s key.
Find out about your doctor, check into their history, but it’s not, I don’t know, it’s impossible once you hear the ‘c’ word to not think it’s a death sentence, but it doesn’t have to be.
