In this edition of EmpowHER's "HER Health Minute", Michelle King Robson covers a study that suggests that there may be a link between genetics and your outlook on every day life.

Michelle: Hi, I am Michelle King Robson, the Voice of Women’s Health and this is HER Health Minute.

Is the glass half empty or half full? The reason for your answer may lie in your genes. While researchers have long known that certain traits such as a healthy self-esteem and optimism are key to psychological health, researchers from UCLA took it one step further through questionnaires and DNA testing, scientists were able to identify people with certain genes as less optimistic and they didn’t want to fall into depression.

However, scientists caution genetics is just one factor in influencing psychology. Some tips to manage your moods include talking with a friend, exercising and eating a balanced diet.

This has been another HER Health Minute. I am Michelle King Robson, the Voice of Women’s Health, and remember – change begins with you.
