Dr. McLucas shares the women who are most susceptible to uterine fibroids.
Dr. McLucas:
When a disease affects 40% of women, and that’s around the world, it’s not limited to any one particular age; it’s not limited to one particular race. We just wonder again why some women don’t get fibroid. We know that if 40% of women are susceptible to fibroids, it’s a little higher in African-Americans, probably closer to 45%. Again, an unusual black family who never have a history of fibroids, there's almost always a family member who has had a surgery or two or three, because of fibroid tumors.
