Beauty regimens, whether they be applying makeup, styling hair, putting on nail polish or caring for skin, can give women confidence and a radiant appearance. However, they can also work against women when they turn into beauty disasters. The mishaps may cause panic, but they can easily be fixed with a few tweaks.

How To Fix 5 Common Beauty Errors:

1) Problem: Heavy Foundation. Foundation may help cover up blemishes and even skin tones, but if you apply too much, the product can become thick and leave a cakey complexion.

The Fix: A tinted moisturizer and light foundation spread more evenly than other foundations that often apply too thick. However, if you do apply too much foundation, pat the face with a damp washcloth to absorb heavy foundation areas. Applying foundation with a makeup sponge or pad blends the product evenly and lightly.

2) Problem: Overusing hair products. Hair products such as gel, hairspray, mousse and volumizer may give tresses that perfect curl, hold, waves or fullness. But when too much is applied, they can also leave hair stiff, flat and lifeless.

The Fix: Use products sparingly, adjust your hair in the mirror and, if necessary, add more product in small amounts until you get a desired effect. If hair appears greasy, smooth on dry shampoo powder from the roots to throughout the hair. If hair looks stiff and sticky, spray on a little water then blow dry the damp areas. Putting hair into a ponytail or bun also makes hair mistakes less noticeable than when hair is down.

3) Problem: Runny or smudged eyeliner. Eyeliner defines eyes, but when sudden situations such as crying or hot weather occur, the makeup can smear.

The Fix: Waterproof eyeliner can be worn throughout the day without smudging. If eyeliner starts to run while you are on the go, put a small pack of makeup remover sheets or makeup pads or sponges in your purse. Dampen the pad and lightly rub off smudges. If at home, dip a Q-tip in your makeup remover cream or liquid then trace it along the smeared lash line. A Q-tip will remove the running eyeliner precisely, without ruining other makeup.

4) Problem: Extreme hair dying. Many people dye their hair for a new or bolder look, but changing shades can sometimes leave you with a color far from what you desired.

The Fix: When lightening or darkening your hair, dye within one or two shade levels from your current color. Rinse your hair immediately with clarifying shampoo if you dye your hair from a box at home and don’t like the result. To completely remove the color, you may need to repeat thoroughly rinsing your hair for up to 4 days. It is important to treat unwanted hair coloring before the dye fully absorbs. If you continue treating you hair, but see no color change, seek professional help.

5) Problem: Armpit sweat stains. Whether it comes from nerves or hot weather, armpit stains can cause embarrassment and hygiene discomfort.

The Fix: According to totalbeauty.com, rub on deodorant at night to ensure it
thoroughly soaks into your skin. Reapply deodorant on dry armpits in the morning. If you sweat regularly, wear light, non-tight clothing in darker colors. When pit stains do appear, blot your armpits beneath your shirt with a cloth or paper towel then reapply deodorant if it is available.
