Hi Anonymous,
December 17, 2010 - 8:49amThanks for your article and for finding EmpowHER.
Watching your nutrition, and exercising for weight loss is highly recommended by doctors for women with PCOS. In your particular situation, you may want to consult with your personal doctor to verify this type of exercise is right for you. Belly dancing sounds fun. Have you done it before? If this is a new thing for you, you definitely may want to take it slow until you get the hang of it. You may even want to alternate your workouts with some light weights exercises to build muscle. for more information about diet and exercise, check out EmpowHER's Diet & Nutrition pages. You also may want to check out the Fitness page for more ideas on how to keep fit! There also are groups that my interest you in EmpowHER Groups to meet like-minded women looking to improve their overall well-being: ]]>Groups]]>

Hi Cristine,
December 17, 2010 - 3:26pmThank u for the immediate reply. I was 27 years old when I learned that I am Polycystic. But I did not take it seriously, I only relied on the prescribed medicine of my OGgyne without really considering my health. Until 2 years ago I had 3 miscarriages and one is ectopic pregnancy. I am already 32 years old now and beginning to panic of getting pregnant. middle of this year, my senses have woke me up about my situation. I surf thru the net and learned a lot about women with PCOS and that all started I took my condition seriously. I started my walking exercise every morning for 30 mins every day. That took 3 months and then I started my belly dancing till now. My heaviest weight was 78 kls and I am now 62 kilos. My menstrual period became regular unlike before it can take me 2 mos before having my menstrual period. But my period now would only take 2 days, is that normal? can u give some advice on how to correct my period coz what I know menstrual period would normally take 5 to 7 days. thank u very much and more power!

Hi again,
December 20, 2010 - 9:28amYour doctor would be the best resource for getting your periods back on track. There is medication you can take to help your body to ovulate more regularly and possibly improve your chances of getting pregnant. One treatment option may be Metformin with or without Clomiphene citrate. Here is a video about another way to improve fertility, check it out!
