She was one of a kind, and we are saddened by Elizabeth Taylor's death due to congestive heart failure. I had the opportunity to explore this condition in depth with Northwestern Memorial expert Dr. John O'Connell. Today many people live well with heart failure. Some have symptoms, some have none. There are several medications that can help, as can education about how to live with the disease. You can learn more about this from an expert, and meet a 56-year-old woman living with heart failure, in our interview on Patient Power: http://www.patientpower.info/program/heart-failure1
Wishing you the best in health,
Andrew

Ms. Taylor also lived with Congestive heart failure for a very long time. My mother just passed away at age 92 and this was given as the cause of death. That's what you have to say when the old body shuts down. She had had bypass surgery 25 years ago.My mom lived a good, long , relatively comfortable life though, with this diagnosis for decades. And she could still do the NYT crossword puzzle!
