I saw an interesting study in USA Today asking women, "Do you ever worry about losing all your money and becoming homeless?" Surprisingly the poll was almost tied, 49% of women said yes, while 51% said no.
This made me think about how much burden us women put on ourselves when we are trying to support our family.
"The Women, Money and Power Study" conducted by Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, identified that half of all women (49% who said yes) were worried about becoming broke and homeless. This includes 27% who have household incomes of $200,000+.
The study also found that with the financial crisis of 2008-2009 this may have boosted women's financial responsibilities around the household.
The fear of what will happen will happen when they retire also weighed heavily on the women in the study.
Other questions 57% of women in the study also feared:
• "What if I run out of money during retirement?"
• "What will happen to me if I lose my spouse"
• "Will I lose everything?"
With all of this to think about most women want the financial knowledge and the retirement security to keep greater peace of mind.
What financial goals do you have to keep your worry at bay?
