Shannon,

Although anything is possible when sex is involved, it is rare for a woman to ovulate 3 days before her period so you may be in the clear. Remember that periods change especially when we are stressed out and worried about being pregnant. All of a sudden it gets shorter and lighter, doesn't it? Try not to worry about it this time but remember to use some form of birth control if you are not looking to get pregnant-- no matter how carried away you get.

Good Luck!

Shannon,
Part of the reason your period may be so light is that the Yasmin is changing your hormone levels a little. In the past, your body was in charge of its own hormones regulating your ovulation and periods -- now, the Yasmin has taken over, in order to prevent pregnancy. It's very common to have changes in your cycle in the first couple of months of a new birth control prescription. Don't fret too much. It sounds like things will be fine.

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your question. Ovulation is different in every woman but mainly the rule of thumb is that you ovulate approximately 14 days after you start your period (meaning, counting from the first day you start your period) so you probably are not ovulating if you are 4 days from starting your period.

If you are trying to get pregnant, you can purchase an ovulation kit from your local pharmacy which will help you find “your” time of ovulation. I hope this helps to answer your question. Please feel free to contact us again if you have further questions.
