Q:

Could I be pregnant?!

So, I've been on birth control pills for about five months now I guess. I started out taking them like I was suppose to, but I've always been pretty forget and I take them most days, but not always. Well I recently started a new job and I'm a full time student so I definitely haven't been taking my pills like I should. Sometimes I forget for days and then take one and forget for another few days, sometimes even a week. I just take them when I can remember, which I know is awful, but I really try. Anyways, I was supposed to start my period on the 27th of March, but it never came. I've already took one pregnancy test that came out negative, but I know that's not always 100% accurate. So, my question is how long should I wait for it to start or to take another test?

Hi anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  Anytime you missed your pills and have unprotected sex your chances are higher for pregnancy to occur.  The fact you are not taking the pills as prescribed, that too can cause irregularities on your cycles. You will need to see your doctor, if you don't get a period.

Best,

Daisy
