Also i had very bad shooting pains in my lower abdomen on the left side about 2 weeks ago for about 3-4 days. I got my period today so im kind of ruling out pregnancy but i heard that it is possible but what else could it be?

Dear Ellie106

Thank you for your question and welcome!

Your symptoms do sound very like pregnancy - did you take a test? It's a possibility that you were pregnant and could now be miscarrying. Taking a pregnancy test now might still be a good idea since the pregnancy hormone hCG is likely still in your system if you were pregnant.

If you are not pregnant, you may have had a rather severe case of PMS or may be developing something called PMDD - Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder. You can read more about that here : http://www.empowher.com/media/reference/premenstrual-dysphoric-disorder

Symptoms include:

◦Extreme sadness
◦Frequent crying
◦Feelings of anxiousness or nervousness
◦Unusually strong cravings for certain foods
◦Difficulty concentrating or paying attention
◦Panic attacks
◦Mood swings
◦Fatigue or lack of energy
◦Physical symptoms include sore breasts, headaches, joint or muscle pain, swelling, and bloating

Do you think this sounds like something you may be experiencing?

It's hard to say what the shooting pains were. It could be anything from PMDD to an irritated nerve or digestive issues. It could also be stress related. If they happen again, you should contact your health care provider.

There is also the possibility that you could be in the beginning stages of Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Are you familiar with these conditions? You can find them here :

We cannot (and do not) diagnose - only offer suggestions and ideas as to what may be at issue here. I know I've given you a lot of information to digest but please let us know what you think and keep us updated.

Does this help you?
