Hot flashes and Night sweats...

I would like to know if I take a over the counter product like Estroven, how long should I use it for?
I can't afford the doctor bills to go see a doctor in the area and I have had my hot flashes and night sweats for a good 8 months now, the sleep distrubances are the worst. I am a diabetic type 2, since August, but I have it under control now. Any advice on over the counter products I would appreciate.
Thanks, Connie Cool

Hi Connie -
I'm sorry you're experiencing the discomfort of hot flashes and night sweats. That can be very uncomfortable and the sleep disruption can lead to other problems.
There's no specific answer I can give you on how long you will have to deal with this, as it varies from woman to woman. For some it lasts a few months, but for others it can last as long as 10 years.

We have several resources that can give you more information on what you're going through as well as various forms of natural remedies that may help you. Many women find they have to try different things to figure out what works best.
The best place to start getting information is to go here:

The product you mentioned, Estroven, is an herbal supplement with natural incgredients including black cohash. You may find the following article helpful in deciding whether to use the product:

I hope this information helps you, and you'll let us know what you decide to try and how it works. Good luck!
Take good care,
Pat
