Guide

Hello Rachel9461,

A kidney stone is a hard mass developed from crystals that separate from the urine within the urinary tract. Normally, urine contains chemicals that prevent or inhibit the crystals from forming.

Is the "they" in your question your doctor? If so, what did your doctor recommend?

Most kidney stones can pass through the urinary system with drinking plenty of water, 2 to 3 quarts each day, to move the stones along. This is the recommendation of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
