I am a 39 year old woman. My children are 20,18,15.I have been married to my husband for 21 years. The past 2 years we have not been getting along. Therefore have not been having sex. This past September we decided to seek counseling and to make the marriage work.Since the middle of October we have had sex without using birth control.I figured that I would not become pregnant easily because of my age.Today is November 13, 2010.Since Monday I have not been feeling well and my breasts are sore.I just don't feel right.I have had these symptoms before each time I have been pregnant. My period should come on November 19.Do you think it is possible to become pregnant in 1 month at age 39?Everything I have read online says as a woman hits 40 the rate of becoming pregnant drops drastically.

Anon,
Thanks for your post! You are right, the chances of the average woman decrease as she ages. However, you are not the average woman-- you are YOU. Remember that every woman is different and it just may have taken you one month to conceive. Don't jump to conclusions just yet though, wait until you are late on your period and take a pregnancy test. It is possible for you to have conceived but it could also be stress giving you somatic symptoms. Try to take a deep breath and keep it out of your mind for the next week. Make sure to keep us updated!
