Hello Michele S,
Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for coming to us with your concern.
This sounds like a symptom of perimenopause, which is the time of transition toward menopause.
Estrogen levels rises and falls unevenly during perimenopause. Your menstrual cycles may lengthen or shorten, and you may begin having menstrual irregularities. As ovulation becomes more unpredictable, the length of time between periods may be longer or shorter, your flow may be light to heavy, and you may skip some periods.
Michele S, do you have a history of heavy periods? If your period continues beyond today, give your gynecologist a call.
Regards,
