Hi Anon

Thank you for your post.

If you are allergic to morphine (and it sounds like your allergy could be deadly) then you obviously need to be very careful. There are other opioid pain relievers like Fentanyl that may still work. Make sure you have this on your medical record and that you verbalize it anytime you are getting any kind of pain medication.

If your allergy is a "true" allergy, rather than just having uncomfortable symptoms (and it sounds like this may be the case with you) then you can suffer anaphylaxis which is extremely serious.

Anaphylaxis, a true immune system allergic response, affects one’s whole body. It is characterized by a very rapid onset of symptoms. These can include difficulty breathing, swallowing, or controlling one’s anxiety and confusion. It can also cause a slurring of speech, light-headedness, palpitations and fainting. Anaphylaxis can be life-threatening and requires immediate medical attention.

An opiate is derived from the poppy flower. An opiod is made synthetically. Talk to your doctor about any difference this can make to you and about your alternatives.
