My bf and I had unprotected sex right atfer I just ended my period I took plan B pills and the next day I got my period again even though I just had it 3 days earlier. But now I still haven't gotten my period. Is it possible that I'm just late?

Can anyone please help me? I'm thinking I'm just going to get my period really late. Or is it possible that I am pregnant? Answers asap please.

I am a little confused as to when exactly you took the emergency contraception? You took three of them within 10 days? This will not effect anything "in your future" long-term, but will most likely cause irregular bleeding and periods for a cycle or two.

Emergency contraception, if you are using it this frequently, is NOT a reliable form of birth control. It is only to be used when your primary form of birth control fails. It sounds like you do not have a primary form of birth control? The emergency contraception is only up to 80% effective at preventing pregnancy, and this number declines rapidly when it is not used immediately after unprotected sex. Compare this to hormonal contraception (like, the pill) which is 99% effective at preventing pregnancies, and the condom, which is up to 98% effective when used correctly and consistently.

Thanks for reply. I can add few things like :

1. The first I took on 30th June, although not sure was it really require.
2. Second as I mentioned due to Hymen brokage, took on 5th July.
3. Third on last day of my period, it happened on 9th July.

And my period started after 3 days i.e. on 12th July again. I thought it will be just for few mins may be due to any reason. But it's my third day and it's there although comparativity less to the regular ones.

So my concern is for my cycle duration, will I have my next period based on these recent period or the one I had before 1 week?

And do I need to visit the Doctor????

( 1 point to add I visit the Doctor in May month as didn't get my period on time which were supposed to be 18th May then got almost after 8-10 days per Doctor's prescription)

Biggest reason to visit this blog as I am not aware about any of these things much and all these happened so quick that I am not able to relate the cause and consequences.

Your suggestions are highly appreciated. :)

Okay so I'm 17 years old. I had unprotected sex with someone on Friday, July 2. I'm pretty sure he pulled out. I took the plan b pill on the following Monday, July 5 because I wasn't able to get it before then. I read that you're supposed to take it less than 72 hours after having sex so I hope that is correct. I was supposed to get my period yesterday, which was July 6. I had a few spots of blood at one point, and now I haven't gotten anything at all since that time yesterday. I'm really scared because my period cycle is way irregular, but I know when to expect it. I get it every 2 weeks. So that pretty much increases my chances of being pregnant right? I'm really new to sex and i'm just so confused and scared that I'm pregnant. Please help me! It'd be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
You can take Plan B up to 120 hours after unprotected sex, but the earlier, the more effective it is.

Your period can be irregular after taking Plan B. Today is July 13th, and I'm wondering if your period has started yet?

Have you talked with your GYN about your periods coming every 2 weeks? This would not cause you to have a greater chance of pregnancy, because you most likely are not ovulating before each period.

Let us know if your period has not started yet, and we can talk more.

Hi, I was hoping you could help me too, Alison. I had sex on June 18th, the day my period ended, and we were afraid there might have been some leakage at the base of the condom so I took plan B on June 20th. I was hoping for my period later this week or early next week (so that would be June 12th due to my 28 day cycle, roughly), but I started bleeding this morning. There has been no spotting or bleeding since I took the plan B until today. It's been somewhat medium bleeding, which is odd because usually my periods are very heavy the first two days. But I know that plan B can cause lighter periods, although I was expecting a heavier one since that seems to be the case with almost everything I'm reading. I've also had cramps and a little bit of nauseousness Is this bleeding my period? Could I be pregnant? Please, please help! Thank you

Hi,
I am so confused! You have been taking Plan B "until today"? Can you explain what that means? You originally said you took it June 20th, a few days after sex.

Your last period ended June 18th, which means it started around June 14th, and today is only July 4th. You are not expecting your period for another week or two, correct?

You are bleeding early, most likely due to taking Plan B. This is completely normal, as a side effect is breakthrough bleeding or late/early periods. If you are bleeding, this means you are not pregnant (the absence of bleeding could indicate a pregnancy). This bleeding could be your period, or breakthrough bleeding. Your cycle may be irregular for a cycle or two after taking Plan B.

Does this help? If not, can you explain what you mean by your taking Plan B "until today"? It sounds like you are having a period now, so that is great news!

Hi! Thank you so much for helping me. I meant that I have experienced no bleeding in the two weeks since I took the plan b, so this is my first sign of bleeding, and yes, I was expecting my period to come at around that time. The bleeding has gotten a little heavier, and your answer has definitely relieved me of worries! Thank you so much :)

Hi. My last period was May 26th. I had just removed my nuvaring the previous Sunday, but never started another. My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex May 30th thru June 1st. I miscalculated and took the next choice pill late on June 3rd. I started spotting/early period on the 7th. Since I didn't get my expected period on the 23rd, I took a pregnancy test the next day and it came back negative. I had light cramps during that time, but my period never showed up. Now I am 8 days late. Could I be pregnant?

Hi,
There is a chance of pregnancy with unprotected sex, and the pregnancy test you took on June 23rd may have been too early for it to be accurate (since your last menstrual period was May 26th).

Since it is now July 1st, it would be a good idea to take another home pregnancy test, as after you have missed your period, it will be at its peak accuracy for detecting any pregnancy hormones.

Emergency contraception can cause spotting, breakthrough bleeding and irregular periods (either early or late period).

If your pregnancy test comes out negative, and you still have not began your period next week, you may want to call your doctor to see what s/he would advise. It is normal for your period to be late after taking emergency contraception, though.

Good luck, and let us know how you are doing!
