Hi Anon,
It's odd that you have this pain after a bowel movement but yet there is nothing going on in your intestines. You say you had a colonoscopy? What kind did you have? Some colonoscopy exams only cover the lower part of the intestine. How long ago did you have this done?
I really think you should bring this up to your doctor again. Your gastroenterologist is the best person to determine what other tests need to be done.
Wishing you the best,

THANK YOU ROSA,THE DOCTOR SAID I HAVE ARTERIO VENOUR MALFORMATION (COLON).MY INSURANCE WONT PAY FOR A MRI ABDOMEN,SO MY DOC ORDER A CHEST MRI SINCE I HAD 2 BLOOD CLOTS TO MY LUNGS LAST YEAR.HE ALSO TOLD ME TO TAKE LACTULOSE 2X A DAY,WHICH DOES THE SAME AS MILK/MAGNESIA,WHICH STILL INFLAMES MY BACK ONCE I HAVE A BOWELMOVEMENT.ANY OTHER SUGGESTION WILL BE APPRECIATED.THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
September 14, 2011 - 2:12pmHi,
It's puzzling because arteriovenous malformation of the colon or AVM are dilated weak-walled blood vessels which in the bowel usually are close to the inside surface. They appear as very red areas. They tend to bleed easily with minimal trauma. The only problem with AVMs is their tendency to bleed small amounts of blood over time resulting in anemia or a low red cell count. Some AVMs can be cauterized using heat or laser therapy. When they are extensive, surgery may be required. But they don't cause pain.
If your insurance company will not pay for a MRI, can your gastroenterologist order a CT scan? Maybe insurance will cover that.
Let your doctor know that you are still having discomfort taking Lactulose.
